Hi allI'm looking at developing an app that uses a subscription model, but I can't find any documentation on how to go about it. The Apple docs seem to leave it at "you are responsible for tracking…Continue

iPhone Backup - Any way to combine

Just wondering does anyone know of any tool/process to combine different apps with saved data from different backup folders? I have a whole load of old Backup files with saved data in various apps, and my current backup went a bit skewiff. I have all the MDINFO and MDDATA files from various backups that I'd made but I dont have the PLIST files. Is there any tool that can generate a list of apps that are in these files, allow you to select which ones to combine, and generate new PLIST files,…See More

Code Review

Just an idea I had, thought I'd stick it up here, see what people think:It struck me that there's a lot of self-taught people writing Apps on their own, with little or no peer reviewing going on. I know from my own experience writing code that theres a lot of things that a developer will miss if they're working on projects on their own, not being able to see the wood for the trees. When the developer is a self-taught novice in the language (like myself and probably a few others are with…See More

Vinny Coyne replied to Vinny Howard's discussion Subscription-based Apps
"No probs. I actually implemented subscriptions into EirText Pro for the Push messaging feature. The method I'm using is registering the user's username, not the device ID, so I guess that fits in with Apple's requirements. "

"No problem, they're all valid concerns. What I meant is that the user would provide a user ID or email as part of a registration process within the app. As far as I know, it's not possible to extract any user data from transaction…"

"Yes and no. You only need to validate receipts at time of purchase - validate server-side and if valid, then store the purchase date & some unique user ID (e.g. email address, username) in your DB. On app startup, simply query your…"
