Hi all

Thought this would be a better place for this discussion, Twitter is a bit public and makes it difficult to discuss properly.

I don't think web apps should be allowed on apps.ie. I think it is a place for mobile app developers to showcase their work, not web app developers.

I usually screen developers apps once they sign up for an account but this one slipped through. My apologies. In future, it would be awesome if you guys spot anything that looks awry to just drop me a mail or DM on Twitter so I can take a look.

I can unpublish this app and notify the developer if that sounds like a good approach.

Cheers,

-Darran.

Just kidding. Agree with ye all. Putting web apps on the site is like putting custard on steak: It shouldn't happen!

Put me in the bucket pool also to help out with moderating.
Hi all,

Sorry bout my little outburst on Twitter earlier.

Read my way back through the Talk archive and now consider myself better informed. :)

in light of that. No to webapps. Let someone else do webapps.ie. Ugh.

Kevin
Web apps? Are ye mad?!
I think everyone knows my opinion (as I mention it at every meeting!) but I think it's crystal clear that there is no other game in town other than the iPhone (in terms of app sales/revenue for developers) which is the whole reason for apps.ie. (To sell our apps). I'm a purist - and I think we should only have iPhone apps on there. No Android, no Pre.

If in 6-8months time there is a massive market for these other platforms, then we could reconsider it. But by catering to so many platforms we are losing focus, and it becomes confusing to consumers. We need a simple message - apps.ie - apps for your iPhone. At the moment, it is like playing russian roulette on the site, you click on a cool looking app, and it turns out it won't run on your iPhone. #FAIL
