X-Cake

Cocoaheads Ireland and Northern Ireland

Dunno if you've seen this: http://www.mobilesketchbook.com.
I think this is a good idea. I'm thinking that if there's any level of interest, I could see if they'll do a bulk order.

That looks really handy. I'll throw my name in for a bulk order if that's possible.
I'm sure most who monitor TUAW (The Unofficial Apple Weblog) or other iPhone related RSS feeds ,etc might have picked up on these Keynote and Powerpoint templates which Mockapp.com have made available as free downloads.

A more general question about these forums.
Would I be right in saying that they are pretty quiet at the moment given the number of members ?
I could be wrong but I get the impression that people might be holding back on making posts to the forums for fear of asking what they might fear would be seen as a silly question. I have a ton of questions and ideas floating in my head at the moment and I guess I've subconsciously been a bit constipated about posting anything because I'm not one of the founders and don't want to be barging in. Would it help if the site owner(s) would put out a post specifically encouraging people to contribute with questions, ideas, etc so as to give the forums a bit more of a kickstart.

Definitely having met people face to face (eg, last night) helps break the ice.
I know there are a ton of good non-Irish (mostly US based) iPhone development forums but getting assistance and encouragement from people within our peer group here certainly would help enrich the knowledge amongst our peer group here.

This is the first Ning based social network/webby forum I've used and it seems like the forum posts go into a fairly flat structure and tags are the only way of putting some structure on them (i.e, no folders).
That does seem to be a bit of a limitation. I reckon that a forum needs to get to a certain initial critical mass in terms of number of posts before it really becomes productive and people just don't think twice about posting their great ideas, newbie questions, requests for opinions, etc.

sorry if this seems a bit rambling...

Hey Ian,
I guess the forums are like any other - i.e. A level of momentum is needed to encourage new people to post. But I would encourage to ask away. There's no concept of "site owners" as such; XCake is just a bunch of Irish iPhone and Mac developers.

I suspect you'd be pleasantly surprised at the level of response you'll get should you pose questions.
Cheers,
Dermot.
That's really nice dermot. Very handy just for organising project ideas/thoughts. I would be interested in one. Maybe if we order a few, we could share the shipping cost? Pu me down for 2 if you're ordering some.
I'd take 3 and would be happy to split shipping.

Cheers.
Even with the unfortunately b'ugly cover, I'd probably be on for a couple.
Here is a PDF of a stencils I use when sketching. Does the same thing as the sketchbook.

I bought a couple of these a few weeks ago:

It's actually bigger than a real iPhone (which is a good thing when drawing). Also, the design has changed a bit from the picture. Very useful and pleasant to use.
