Hi,

Essentially I want to build my 1st iPhone App that links up to this website www.bandpages.ie in much the same way as the Carzone.ie or the Daft.ie Apps do - but in this case the search function is to view the band profiles and allow users to contact them by e-mail.

It's my website so I have full access to the database. I will probably include the data in the 1st release (say 100 bands initially) and then link it to the server for a 'live' feed using JSON if all goes well. Any good book / tutorial suggestions?

Thx.

For iPhone development, I'd recommend either "Beginning iPhone 3 Development" by Jeff LaMarche or "iPhone Programming" by Jon Conway/Aaron Hillegass

If you already know C, then you might pick up enough Objective-C from the introductions in those books; otherwise you should start by learning that..

Funny, by coincidence I logged in here to offer a copy of "Head First iPhone development", a great book for getting started.  Worked for me, I have my first app about to be published. I was sent two copies of this book instead of one when I ordered it online, so I have one to give away. I'm based in Trinity and could give it to you during the day if you are interested.
@Sebastien - that would be a great help, I live near Trinity so maybe Monday or Tuesday next week?
@Denis - thanks for that. Went into Easons today and picked up the LaMarche book. It will get me started but it doesn't talk me through the project I have in mind....
Liam, sure, I sent you a message to arrange it.
