Creating a new AppStore Distribution Cert?

My AppStore Distribution cert is about to expire. Are there any gotchta's I need to be aware of when creating a new Distribution cert and profile ? I'm a bit worried about updates to existing apps on the AppStore using the new cert and profile. On p.64 of the Dev Program User Manual (v.5.2) it says when submitting updates, you must

1. Use the same Distribution Provisioning Profile to build each new version of your application

But this seems to be clearly impossible, as the the certs and Distribution Provisioning Profile's need to be regenerated annually?

To answer my own question, it's actually quite straight forward. You can create a new Cert but the Distribution provisioning profile stays the same, so there is no problem.

To add a bit more. Deleting your distribution provisioning profile and creating a new one doesn't do bad things to apps already on the store.
